Indiana Jones and The Great Circle’s latest deep dive shows just how useful a whip can be, and that our titular hero looks pretty dapper as a vicar.

MachineGames has kindly offered a deep dive into the upcoming Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, and it looks good!

Have you felt like you need to take a good look at Indiana Jones and the Great Circle before considering picking it up next month? Well, it’s your lucky day as there’s a full 15 minutes of gameplay to watch and to be honest, it looks like we could have a pretty solid winner with the latest from the Wolfenstein developer. The beginning is a classic Indy moment where an artifact is stolen from a temple (archaeologists, right?) before having to escape, which is as good a way to start as any. Just like Indiana has to put the pieces together in the movies, you’ll also have to look for clues and figure out how to progress throughout the game.

You’ll find more than just clues, however, as there are small puzzles scattered throughout the game and its various locations, which in turn allow you to discover all sorts of secrets (and occasionally more, uh, clues). Deep Dive puts a lot of emphasis on how useful Indy’s whip is, as of course there are plenty of opportunities to smash through gaps with it, but you’ll also find it to be very useful when you want to break a bottle from a distance to distract a guard. You can also create makeshift poles to swing from by throwing spears and the like at specific locations, which is pretty cool! And of course, as seen above, it is also very useful in combat.

One of my favorite gameplay details is that you have a camera that you can use to take pictures of important locations or objects, and they will give you more clues for the puzzles you need to solve, but the feature also allows you to ask for clues. if you get stuck on certain puzzles. It’s just a nice touch! Indy will also end up wearing a variety of costumes throughout his adventure, and I must say he cleans up pretty well as a vicar.

The combat also seems solid, impressive considering it’s first-person melee combat, which isn’t easy to do well: you won’t just be punching blindly, you have to think about it a bit, which feels in the spirit. of cinema. In fact, overall it seems like the game emulates the movies quite well, which is exactly what you want from something like this.

The full deep dive includes a few more details, so check it out above if you want to know more.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle will be released on December 9 on Xbox Series X/S and PC, and will be released on PS5 in early 2025.
