Halo Infinite Adds Halo 2-Inspired Playlist and Third-Person Mode

The first real Halo Limitless update introduces old Halo 2 maps to the game and a third-person version, among other features.

Operation: Advanced Travel drops recently, four days before Halo 2’s 20th annual, on November 9.

It features the Delta Arena playlist, which includes recreations of seven Halo 2 multiplayer maps combined with game systems such as Slayer, Oddball, Seize the Flag and King of the Hill.

The playlist includes legacy game settings and the main weapon is the MA5K Avenger, which is powered through the Halo 2 SMG.

“While using custom game settings to recreate Halo 2 movement is relatively easy, capturing that classic ‘feel’ was a little harder to nail down,” Halo Limitless apparel maker Evan Colson told Xbox Twine.

“Given all the subtle differences between Halo Infinite and Halo 2, a 1:1 recreation was never in the cards, but what we did end up with was a fusion between the two, with stages that move like the legacy Halo, but “plays with elements of the modern sandbox.”

As announced at the closing of the 2024 Halo International Championships, Operation: Advanced Travel also features a third-person version for Halo Unlimited.

Microsoft also has obvious plans to get rid of a fully playable version of the Halo 2 demo shown at E3 2003, including gameplay that never made it into the general game. It will be added to the Steam Workshop on November 9 as a mod for Halo: The Master Leading Collection.

The platform holder recently rebranded 343 Industries as ‘Halo Studios’ and revealed that it is running some advanced games with Unreal Engine 5.

The indoor track was announced during the Halo International Championships and was accompanied by a video showing a technical view of several Halo-themed locations operating in UE5.

Positive Affinity was one of those who worked on what would have been a “game-changing” form of actual fighting for Halo Limitless, the studio’s former design director Mike Clopper recently claimed.
