Manager Ruben Amorim says there will be “clarification” regarding his anticipated move to Manchester United and then Wearing’s match against Estrela on Friday.
He is expected to remain in the Portuguese team until the last international match.
There is uncertainty over whether an offer was made for Amorim to break into Used Trafford after Erik ten Hag was sacked on Monday.
“It’s a negotiation between two clubs, it’s never easy,” said Amorim, 39.
United board member Sir Dave Brailsford told fans “it’s done” as he arrived for Wednesday’s EFL Cup win with Leicester and posed for a photograph. This knowledge has been corroborated by complementary resources from Portugal.
On the other hand, Wearing officials are convinced that the legitimate offer is still rejected and that talks are continuing.
Manchester United have declined to comment.
“Even with the clauses, it is never easy, they have to talk and we will have a clarification after the game, it will be very clear,” Amorim added.
“So it’s one more day after tomorrow’s game and we will make a decision.”
They will have a key Champions League fixture against Manchester Town on Tuesday and play league games with Amorim’s former club Braga on November 10, before Ecu’s top-flight football stops for the International League matches between November 11 and 19.
Wearing have won all nine of their league games this season and have a three-point lead over rivals Benfica at the top of the table.
They beat Nacional 3-1 in the Portuguese League Cup on Tuesday, but Amorim admitted that fresh speculation about his presence has destabilized the team.
“I know my players and I am sincere when I say that they were not normal. I realized that they were nervous and anxious about the news, with a series of difficult games ahead of them,” said Amorim.
“They know me very well. I have shown that I will defend them until the last minute. But there are things that I cannot control.
“There are things that we cannot regulate, the clubs are negotiating. It is not the mentor’s decision.”
When Amorim stood up to leave Thursday’s press conference, he was asked what he liked about the Premier League: “everything,” he said with a smile.
