Germany launches new subsidy to finance new gaming companies

Germany’s Climate Minister for Culture and Media invites German developers to present “brilliant game ideas” and seek investment through the press. Get started: Video game startups provide treasure.

Featured for both indie developers and new studios, the newspaper Press Get Startup: Video Games Startup Provide helps “up to 130 game developers in Germany set up their own studios” from this past.

According to Game Developer, a successful deal can save €2,750 (nearly $3,000) per year over an 18-month period to “focus on the foundation phase and drive the development of your games.”

Successful candidates, who wish to publish a sporting idea or a project under early construction, will also have the right to access an education and networking program.

“With the grant we support the development of an innovative and diverse game development landscape and thus strengthen Germany as a gaming host,” said consulting minister Claudia Roth.

“With this pilot project, the funds allocated by the German Bundestag for the financing of cultural games will benefit gaming visionaries throughout Germany.”

Eligible candidates can follow the program from now until November 17, 2024.

Earlier this year, Steam demonstrated that it would no longer sell games in Germany without a rating.
