Euro Cup summary: Barça triumphs in the Classic, Napoli and Bayern also achieve victories


Well, Lille and Paris St-Germain were the big winners in a weekend full of derbies in France.

Evann Guessand’s goal overcame Great in a 2-1 Côte d’Azur derby win as second-placed Monaco suffered their first foul of the campaign, before Lille claimed a dramatic 2-0 win in Lens thanks to the goals of Jonathan David and Mohamed. Bayo in minutes 8 and 11 of the surprise week.

But leaders PSG stayed three things clear and then won 3-0 at third-placed Marseille, who sent off Amine Harit in the 20th minute. Joao Neves opened the scoring, before a personal goal from Leonardo Balerdi and a try from Bradley Barcola sealed the victory before the break.

Elsewhere, Wearing maintained their 100% start to the season in Portugal with a 3-0 victory over Famalicao.

Following a midweek double in the Europa League, Swedish striker Viktor Gyokeres was back on the scoresheet to reduce his record this season to twelve in nine league games.

Third-placed Benfica also claimed three points and Muhammed Kerem Akturkoglu’s hat-trick was the highlight in a 5-0 win over Rio Ave.

In the Netherlands, PSV stretched their lead to eight points with a convincing 6-0 defeat of PEC Zwolle.

Nearest rivals Utrecht were further adrift and then lost 2-0 at home to Feyenoord, beyond Ajax they are 1/3 and then a 1-0 overall win at home to Willem II.
