IND Women vs NZ Women 2024/25, IND-W vs NZ-W Second ODI Match Report, October 27, 2024

Shake fresh zealand selected to bat vs bharat

New Zealand captain Sophie Devine batted first in the second ODI against Bharat in Ahmedabad. The visitors made two changes to the team that had lost the first ODI on Thursday, although one of them came under pressure. Spin bowling all-rounder Amelia Kerr, who was ruled out of both the line-up attacks and much of the subsequent WBBL due to a torn left quadriceps muscle, was replaced by left-arm spinner Fran Jonas.

Noted alternative right arm pacemaker Lea Tahuhu is available at Molly Penfold Park, in what was once a comparable change. Penfold bowled five overs in the first ODI and had a wicketless pace of 28 runs. But he struggled with cramps in the first game.

Meanwhile, Bharat brought his familiar captain Harmanpreet Kaur back into the side later, she was rested for the first ODI due to an issue. Harmanpreet replaced D Hemalatha in the Bharat line-up. The hosts also had a debutant in player Priya Mishra, who took over from Renuka Singh Thakur as Bharat also made two changes to his team.

Mishra, 20, was part of Bharat A’s trip to Australia recently. In the unofficial Test, he took six wickets on the Gold Coast and accounted for five wickets on the third day which Bharat A won by 171 runs. She was also the eminent wicket-taker in the 2023-24 Senior Women’s One-Day Trophy, with 23 scalps. She was soon recruited by Gujarat Giants in the WPL 2024, but did not get a chance to play.

Bharat took the three-match line 1-0 and then went on to claim a 59-run win in the first ODI. Meanwhile, New Zealand wants to win the second match not only to keep the line alive but also to gain a big lead in the women’s championship. They have recently placed Reject. 6 there, with the top five teams and Bharat as hosts directly qualifying for the World Cup from the nearest event.
