Bangladesh vs SA: Temba Bavuma to miss second Test against Bangladesh
Temba Bavuma has been ruled out of the second Test against Bangladesh, which begins after Tuesday, as he has not sufficiently recovered from a knock on his elbow. Aiden Markram will lead the team in his absence, in an effort to make Bavuma available for home tests against Sri Lanka in the past.

“We just feel that from a medical point of view he won’t be ready for the second Test,” South Africa Test coach Shukri Conrad said from Dhaka. “Let’s tone it down [rehabilitation] program so that he can be ready for the Sri Lanka series.

It is yet to be determined whether Bavuma will stay with the team in Bangladesh or return home to continue his healing and play red-ball cricket matches at home. The first-class festival begins after the date, and Bavuma’s team, the Lions, will play games three games before the first Test against Sri Lanka.

“I would like him to stay [in Bangladesh]and I’ve told him,” Conrad said. “But I also know he has a young family. But yes, I would like him to stay. It still plays a valuable role. It’s still your team. “We’ll see how it develops.”

Bavuma suffered the earlier concussion in an ODI against Ireland when he fell awkwardly while advancing towards the field to complete a run. He retired injured with 35 in that game and was unable to garden. The shock is on the same elbow that Bavuma injured in 2022 in a T20I tour for Bharat. He was excluded from South Africa’s tour of England at the time.
In the absence of Bavuma, Matthew Breetzke, who debuted in the first Test against Bangladesh, in Mirpur, could be retained in Negative. 6, except South Africa, are betting on an overly versatile player or a bowler in their XI. Left-arm spinner Senuran Muthusamy is a possible replacement as he also bowls left-arm spin.
South Africa won the next Test at Mirpur, bowling out Bangladesh for 106 in the first innings with a four-bowler attack comprising two seamers and two spinners. Conrad paid special tribute to the player he called “our superstar Rolls Royce fast bowler”, Kagiso Rabada, who took nine wickets in the match along with his 300 and his first five in the subcontinent. “We are an inexperienced team, but we still need our leaders,” Conrad said. “KB led from the front with the ball. He carried this attack, as he has for quite some time. And then he was backed up by some really valuable contributions from others with the ball, and then from the guys with the bat as well.”
Kyle Verreynne, playing his first Test on the subcontinent, scored his second century in the structure and Tristan Stubbs, newly promoted to Negative.3, oversaw the end of the chase. “What made me most happy was the calmness we showed at all times. There was nothing frantic, even when things were going against us. I felt very satisfied with the way we carried out our tasks. We were very calm. and clear in terms of what our game plans were as a team and as individuals. That, for me, was really the highlight.”

South Africa’s victory in Mirpur has saved them the hunt for a park in the final of the International Test Championship. They have five tests left in this cycle, starting with the Chattogram Test before two each against Sri Lanka and Pakistan at home. On paper and historically speaking, South Africa will emerge as favorites in every game, but Conrad is careful not to get too excited.

“We know there will be hard work to do along the way. That first test match was the first one we needed to do the hard work. We certainly aren’t going to want to sit on our lead and we certainly aren’t going to enjoy the game too much. glory of that victory. Tomorrow we go to Chattogram and we know it will be very difficult and we will have to play some particularly good cricket. We got a great result there, then great, and then we move on to Sri Lanka.

“The International Test Championship is our International Cup, but we are not going to build sand castles, under no circumstances are we going to have any pie in the sky, whatever we have been given to afford.” “Dreaming with the same intelligence and then giving yourself the opportunity to realize that dream. However, it is moving to throw out a dozen grafts, and we are a long way from that too.”

South Africa is currently fourth in the WTC points table and must win at least four of the remaining five Tests to have a chance of reaching the final.
