Mehidy, whose 97 in the second innings forced South Africa to bat again, said the pitch and states were to their liking or even the toss went well for them but the first order’s failure in the first over took them out of the competition. When the number 5 and 6 batsmen play against the new ball, life becomes difficult. We are working on how to improve the higher order. I’m hopeful we’ll figure out where to improve in the next few games.
“The batsmen have to rush to take on additional duties. The dearth of runs on the board makes timing difficult for the bowlers. We played well despite all the momentum.
