Bungie Creative Group Joins PlayStation to Support Live Operator Video Games

Bungie Ingenious Studios has teamed up with PlayStation Studios to support Sony’s push into live operator video games.

Bridget O’Neill, who previously served as senior director at Bungie Ingenious Studios, mentioned the restructuring in a LinkedIn update this time.

“Today was my team’s last day at Bungie, but not the last day working on Destiny (and Marathon),” he wrote.

“Bungie Creative Studios joins PlayStation Studios to lay the foundation for a creative team that can support all games on the PlayStation Live service.

“As part of this move, I am taking on a new role as Senior Creative Director at PlayStation Studios.”

Bungie announced in July that it was laying off 220 employees, or 17% of its staff, along with plans to further merge with parent company Sony.

“First, we are deepening our integration with Sony Interactive Entertainment, working to integrate 155 of our roles, approximately 12%, into SIE over the coming quarters,” said Bungie CEO Pete Parsons.

“SIE has worked tirelessly with us to identify roles for as many of our people as possible, allowing us to together save a wealth of talent that would otherwise have been affected by downsizing.

“Secondly, we are working with PlayStation Studios leadership to develop one of our incubation projects, an action game set in a new science-fantasy universe, to form a new studio within PlayStation Studios to continue its promising development “.

Sony has experienced major teething problems in its push into the incumbent operator games market, including canceling an Ultimate of Us multiplayer game and Cohesion being pulled from sale in just two weeks.
