Mario & Luigi: Brothership developer is notable among gamers with first copies

The developer of Mario & Luigi: Brothership has stood out among players who got physical copies of the game from the beginning.

Mario & Luigi: Brothership is the first new entry into the Mario & Luigi series in almost nine years. One of the biggest questions from fans has been who is growing the game, since the series’ new developer, Alpha Dream, went bankrupt in 2019.

Now, players who started playing the game early have discovered that its developer is Achieve, the studio behind Octopath Traveler and Octopath Traveler 2.

It is unknown why Nintendo has decided to reserve who is developing its flagship titles.

In the past, Nintendo refused to confirm who the new actor behind Mario was until residents of early Super Mario Marvel copies discovered it in the credits. After that, he was similarly secretive around Super Mario RPG developer Transfer until his identity was found on a package page.

The company was also tight-lipped about the developer behind Princess Peach Showtime, refusing to confirm whether Excellent-Really Feel was running on it when asked.

VGC lately I’ve been wanting to play Mario & Luigi: Brothership. Our preview called it “vibrant and dynamic.”

“It’s a small part of a probably massive adventure, but Mario’s year of standout RPGs looks like it could end with a brilliant crescendo.”
