According to a new modl.AI study, 30% of games developers believe that artificial intelligence will play an “extremely important” role in quality control processes.
Made in September 2024, the Danish firm of AI surveyed 303 games developers based in the USA. In several departments, including qa, production, art, programming, design of games and levels, audio and study leadership.
Of the respondents, 94% think that the AI had already joined their studies to support processes such as test scripts, automated errors reports and game automation.
The report suggested that the use of AI for “repetitive, tedious and heavy data” tasks could allow developers to focus on the “creative and exploratory” quality control work where “human participation really makes a difference.”
This is particularly pertinent, since 77% of respondents said they felt that they were driving “less than what they should” due to time and resources limitations.
Almost half of the respondents said that AI was more useful for faster errors detection, as well as automated reports of errors and 24 -hour test capabilities, 7 days a week.
As for the profitability of AI in quality control, 15% said it was “very profitable”, followed by 40% believing that it was “something profitable” and the remaining 34% neutral on the subject.
However, skepticism remains the use of AI in quality control processes, with most developers citing “lack of human intuition” as their main concern together with a “potential for inaccuracies” and “inconsistent results”.
“The AI complements the human experience; it does not replace it,” said the CEO and co -founder of Modl.AI, Christofffer Holmgård.
“The quality control processes are an integral part of the development of the game, so as you start using AI, the tools will have to focus on the collaboration of Human-AI. Developers should consider their specific workflows and where the AI tools fit.”
