2K has unveiled Mission Ethos, an untouched “third-person roguelike hero shooter” (yes, there’s another kind here) from 31 Union, the studio run by Michael Condrey, the co-founder of Call of Duty. studio Sledgehammer Video games that didn’t make The Callisto Protocol.
If you want a quick refresher, before starting the thirty-first Union in February 2019, Condrey worked on a number of CoD titles that turned out to be hits in Sledgehammer, so he’s bringing plenty of shooter pedigree to this mission.
If you take a look at the screenshots and images, since, you know, it’s a hero shooter, I can’t guarantee that you won’t have Tracer from Overwatch announcing “Here’s the Cavalry” in your mind. repeat, or end up busy with the entire Cohesion saga, as is unfortunately the case with playing games for any sport of this genre that looks like this and comes out in 2024. Here is the article though, simply because a game had a difficult age, not necessarily cruel to any other will.
The sport, which may be free from the start, so there is too much between it and Cohesion, continues to be promoted as just a factor that is “in development”, so it does not seem like its arrival. Mission Ethos has a form of mining called Trials that sounds like it’s along the lines you’d expect for something like this: stick around longer and you’ll incur chances, but also the chance of higher rewards. The roguelike component comes from the use of random upgrade options, which will swap out your character’s attacks and abilities and be obtained throughout matches. I guess he earns them by capturing the family perfectly.
We’ll have to see how Mission Ethos evolves and if it can leave behind the sinister vibes of an Overwatch-like hero shooter emerging in the class of 2024. We hope it’s enough that the family won’t jokingly look to get back on the market after the launch.
