MLS awards predictions: Lionel Messi Win MVP with Inter Miami and the case of Greg Berhalter’s coach

The Major League Soccer season is just around the corner, which means it is time to take some awards. From who will win the League until Lionel Messi can return to back as MVP, there is no new season without predictions to look back, it can go terribly badly in this unpredictable league.

Let’s do it:

MVP: Lionel Messi, Inter Miami

This is a boring choice, I understand. But looking at things, if Lionel Messi could already secure an MVP trophy while only playing approximately half of a season, there is nothing that prevents him from going behind his back with the prize. Inter Miami may need Messi to do more than he did last season, given the construction of his list, and while the Argentine shows signs of deceleration, there is no one in MLS who can stop him particularly in his trade. Denis Bouanga can be the player with the greatest possibility of pushing Messi, because there will be no attack by Los Angeles FC without him, but a monumental effort will be needed to remove this Messi award.

Newcomer from the year: Kevin Denkey, FC Cincinnati

One of the most difficult awards to choose in the League is the newcomer of the year, because it requires a lot to be presented perfectly for someone to succeed, but in Cincinnati, that is just what Kevin Denkey is entering. There are many changes with Lucho Acosta’s departure, but Getting Evander means that there will not be a creative fall and that Denkey has a strong attacker to which the ball can also pass through assists. In a team that fights for the MLS Cup and with a lot of support, Denkey will start running.

Golden Boot: Denis Bouanga, Los Angeles FC

With Mateusz Bogusz now in Mexico with Cruz Azul, almost all the goals that LaFC scores this season must come through Bouanga. You are used to providing the attack consecutive seasons with 20 goals in the League, but theFC may need another team. Oliver Giroud has not been able to reduce the burden on him leading the attack, but if the French can provide space, Bouanga will fill it to score.

Most disappointing signature: Wilfried Zaha, Charlotte FC

Charlotte has done a lot over the years when building his list, but Wilfried Zaha’s addition does not feel good. This is not a team built to win the MLS and Zaha Cup has not scored two-digit goals in a season since the 2021-22 season. Nor is it young, so it is not that Zaha makes this team better within three years. Charlotte needs 15 or more contributions of objectives for this to work and it is difficult to see that that happens.

MLS Cup Champion: La Galaxy

No Riqui Puig, at least to start the season, and no Javeljic will not prevent the galaxy from competing at a high level this season. Joseph Paintsil and Gabriel Pec are more than most teams can offer in the attack and that is before reaching who will establish them. Marco Reus will enter its first full season with the club in a privileged position to lead the league in assists. While the defense is maintained, this will be an excellent side and even if not, the galaxy has shown that it can overcome anyone in their own way.

Coach: Gregg Berhalter

If the fire can remain healthy, they will be the most improved team in the League. Gregg Berhalter may not be one of the most decorated coaches in the league, but has been able to create systems that adapt to his players. With strong attackers and an experienced backbone of Kellyn Acosta and Jack Elliott, the fire is ready to end its drought to miss the playoffs. That only will not be enough for the honors of the coach of the year, but if this team can sneak into a place in the top four, that will be.
