Australia 414 (Carey 156, Smith 131, Jayasuriya 5-151) and 75 by 1 (Khawaja 27*, Labuschagne 26*) Beat Sri Lanka 257 (Kusal 85, Chandimal 74, Starc 3-37) and 231 (Mathews 76, Kusal 50, Kuhnemann 4-63, Lyon 4-84) by 9 Wickts
After concluding the second tickets of Sri Lanka in the first 20 minutes of the play of the day, Australia only lost at the head of the travis starter in search of the 75 -racing victory goal to win the second test of nine WICKETS and sweep the series 2-0.
It was the first victory of the Australian test series in Sri Lanka since 2011 lost four of the five games on the tours of 2016 and 2022. The only other victory of the Australian series in Asia since 2011 was in Pakistan three years ago.
The only concern for Australia will be the aptitude of Smith, which seemed sore in the field in what could be an aggravation of an elbow injury he suffered before the series in the BBL. But he remained in the field and was padded to hit.
Mendis in his second installment of the play of the day reached his second half century of the game, but he fell two balls later to bounce Vicioso de Lyon like a top to the tip of the head of his head, where Smith became the first Australian in claiming 200 captures.
With Sri Lanka’s hopes in Low, the only remaining interest focused on whether Kuhnemann or Lyon would end with a five wickt tour. Lyon had two great shouts of LBW in Nishan Peiris rejected by referee Adrian Holdstock when Australia checked unsuccessfully.
Lyon’s frustrations grew after Kumara went down to Beau Webster in the second slide just for repetitions to show that he did not take. Webster was in charge of ending the tickets when, like the third day, he displayed his Kumara in his first installment.
He completed a strong Allround Party for Webster, who showed his versatility with the ball and also took several trapped.
Desperately needing the first Wickts, Captain Dhananjaya de Silva went directly to his displaced and Peiris produced an acute turn, but the head pounced when bowling players lost their lengths.
After a nervous start, the head hit Ramesh Mendis on the ground before Khawaja reached a couple of limits when Australia began to navigate. De Silva had to quickly resort to the left arm spinner Prabath Jayasuriya, who quickly dismissed the head above.
With only 37 races, there was not much to win for Labuschagne that had been lost in this series in the middle of a century drought that extended to the 2023 ashes.
He got his nerves with an excellent trip to the limit and hit another from Jayasuriya to raise Australia’s 50. After a hard tour, Labuschagne had the satisfaction of hitting the winning race while Australia celebrated her first clean sweep in Asia since she beat Bangladesh 2 -0 in 2006.
The contests between the Sri Lanka teams had traditionally been competitive, but Australia overturned the script with consecutive ruthless performances that felt outside Steve Waugh.
His selections worked well and Australia had contributions in all areas with four centuries and an attack that was for the entire Sri Lanka batting order.
After having little to do during the Indian series dominated by sewing, Lyon, as expected, assumed a lot of responsibility and ended with 14 WICKETS at 22.5.
But this battle for the Warne-Muraliduran trophy will be remembered by the sustaining captain Smith. He issued a reminder about his domain in Asian conditions with brilliant consecutive tons as his rebirth continues. Smith led magnificently in the absence of Pat Cummins with his Nous tactic in the foreground while making all the correct movements in the field.
