Sunday’s preseason matchup between the unused York Knicks and the Minnesota Timberwolves at Madison Sq. Farmland provided some critical fireworks and had nothing to do with the latest basketball going on. In his first (preseason) game against his former team, Wolves teammate Donté DiVincenzo was involved in more than one altercation: first he cried in front of the Knicks’ head coach, Tom Thibodeau, and then he wanted to separate from the coach of the Knicks, Rick Brunson, the father. from York’s unused All-NBA level reserve, Jalen Brunson.
The Knicks traded DiVincenzo to the Timberwolves in the Karl-Anthony Cities deal for two more weeks, keeping him away from three former Villanova Knicks teammates in Brunson, Josh Hart and Mikal Bridges.
Sunday night’s action began when DiVincenzo was in the free throw sequence midway through the first quarter. Before shooting, he appeared toward the Knicks bench and began yelling. The publication was able to pick up the audio and DiVincenzo appeared to say, “I can’t finish, right Thibs?” before uttering “that’s what happens when they let you run the show.”
DiVincenzo then told the sport that he was no longer speaking to Thibodeau about the industry.
While walking through life in all options, then in sports, DiVincenzo and Rick Brunson then suffered a screaming fit on the court and things escalated to the point that participants from both teams intervened to abandon the status. It’s unclear what the two were arguing about, but DiVincenzo was caught at one point saying, “I was talking to Thibs.”
DiVincenzo, who rejected comments about Brunson’s reputation and then the game, is completely compatible with the Knicks last season, averaging career highs in shots (15.5), 3-pointers (283) and 3-point percentage (40.1% ). He also made some of the most memorable shots in Knicks playoff history during Game 2 of United York’s first-round line-up against the Philadelphia 76ers this postseason.
“The ground was shaking. We were in a timeout and the ground was shaking,” DiVicenzo. he said about the consequences of his winning game. “I’ve never been a part of anything like this.”
With those fresh memories in his mind, it’s understandable that DiVincenzo might be a little upset about being sent packing and out with his old team, but he’s in another successful situation with the Wolves, who are scheduled for the Finals. of the Western Conference. last season and dethroned the Denver Nuggets along the way.
