“We also note that one of the referees has been appointed for an SPFL Premiership match involving the club that benefited from the error,” Rangers said in a statement.
“The Scottish Football Association’s actions raise questions about its commitment to improving refereeing standards and promoting accountability.
“While Rangers FC fully respects the independence of referee appointments and the need for referees to operate without interference, the way in which the Scottish FA handles such high-profile failures directly affects its credibility and public trust.
“The decision to reinstate the referees so quickly, and in particular for a match involving the club that benefited from the error in question, has generated widespread media scrutiny of the failure of the referees and the referees involved. This was predictable and avoidable, and contradicts any “Stated Duty of Care on the part of the Scottish FA towards its match officials”.
Rangers said “mistakes happen in football” but added: “The way they are dealt with is very important.
“We urge the Scottish Football Association to demonstrate its desire to improve the quality and consistency of refereeing and to do so in a transparent manner.
“We are not seeking to challenge the authority of the Scottish FA or the integrity or independence of referees, but rather to encourage better standards and accountability. This is not about influence. This is about good governance.
“Rangers FC expect tangible action to be taken and remain committed to holding the Scottish FA to account in the interests of the game.”
