“Xbox will not have exclusives in the future,” it is stated

The days of Xbox exclusives are reportedly numbered.

That’s according to Windows Central executive editor Jez Corden, who discussed his understanding of Microsoft’s own strategy in a series of X posts this weekend.

“Xbox will not have exclusives in the future. “Everything is timed at most exclusively,” he stated.

“If some games are exclusive, it will be incidental at best, the ‘case-by-case’ plot will generally be cross-platform, timed, and perhaps with a few (very few) outliers,” Corden later added.

And responding to a user who said he didn’t think the next Xbox game Fable would come to PlayStation, Corden wrote: “That game was monstrously expensive. It may not be the first day, but in my opinion it will come with the current plan in place.”

Xbox first announced in February its plans to bring a wave of games to PlayStation and Nintendo Switch, in what appeared to be a significant strategy shift, starting with Pentiment, Hi-Fi Rush, Sea of Thieves, and Grounded.

Later, Microsoft announced Doom: The Dark Ages for Xbox Series X/S, PCand PS5, and confirmed that a PS5 version of its Indiana Jones game will be released. next year.

Last month, Microsoft gaming CEO Phil Spencer reiterated that the company won’t rule out any first-party Xbox games coming to rival platforms like PlayStation and Nintendo in the future.

Matt Booty, president of game studios and content at Microsoft, also told Variety this month: “We are making the [exclusivity and windowing] decisions game by game. And each of our studios is in a slightly different position.

“There is also the production schedule of a game, so the decision on spacing comes first. We want to make sure there’s a great experience for our Xbox players and then the gap between [when it becomes available on PlayStation] “It’s more of a production decision than anything else.”
