The Thing Remastered is now available, Nightdive announces

Nightdive Studios has announced a surprising drop for its remaster of the 2002 survival horror game The Factor.

The Factor: Remastered was announced in June with a 2024 expiration window, but was specifically denied when it was shown.

It has now been confirmed that the game will be available immediately on PS5, Xbox Form X/S, Transfer, PS4, Xbox and PC.

Using its proprietary KEX engine, Nightdive has remastered The Factor for current generation platforms, running up to 4K resolution and 120 frames per second depending on the device.

“Nightdive Studios has made improvements to character models, textures and animations, with the implementation of advanced 3D rendering for updated lighting and atmospheric effects,” the studio says. “The result is a suspenseful, sickeningly detailed remaster that revives the thrilling game for modern audiences.”

Originally released 22 years ago on PS2, Xbox and PC, The Factor video game is a sequel to John Chippie’s 1982 film and comes into play a while closer to its events.

Players monitor Captain Blake, a US Army Special Forces captain who has been sent to Antarctica to find out what happened to the film’s investigation team.

There, Blake discovers several survivors, who join him in fighting the shape-shifting alien creature that has infiltrated the outpost.

As in the movie, on the other hand, the Factor can reflect the appearance of the people it kills, meaning that it is up to the player to make a decision that their teammates will also depend on and that is, in fact, So. he secretly told the Factor.

Since Blake is not used to survivors, he is also in doubt, so the game includes a worry/agreement device. If Blake’s teammates lose trust in him (if he throws his weapon at them for too long or takes away their weapons or ammo, for example), they will think he is the factor and start attacking him.
