half time report
The last time the Hornets and Knicks met, the matchup was decided by 21 points, but it sure doesn’t look like the final score will be as lopsided this time around. It’s still anyone’s game after two quarters, but the Hornets currently lead the Knicks 49-46.
The Hornets entered the game with three straight losses and are on pace for four. Can they turn things around or will the Knicks hand them another loss? Only time will tell.

What to know
The Knicks will play the full four quarters on Friday, but are expected to have everything figured out well before then. Their road trip will continue as they take on the Charlotte Hornets at 12:00 pm ET at the Spectrum Center. The Knicks strut around with some offensive muscle, as they have averaged 118.8 points per game this season.
Last Wednesday, the Knicks lost on the road to the Mavericks by a decisive margin of 129-114. Unfortunately, the loss continues a disappointing trend for New York in their matchups with Dallas: They’ve already lost five in a row.
Despite their loss, the Knicks saw several players rise to the challenge and make notable plays. Jalen Brunson, who was 14-for-21 en route to 37 points plus seven assists and two steals, was perhaps the best of them all. With that solid performance, Brunson is now averaging an impressive 25.6 points per game. The team also had help from Karl-Anthony Towns, who had a double-double with 25 points and 14 rebounds.
The Knicks struggled to work together and finished the game with just 20 assists. They were destroyed by their opponents in that department as the Mavericks scored 27.
Meanwhile, the Hornets’ recent slump got a little tougher Wednesday after their third straight loss. They took a 98-94 hit in the loss column at the hands of the Heat.
New York’s loss dropped their record to 10-8. As for Charlotte, its loss dropped its record to 6-12.
Friday’s game is shaping up to be a tough game: the Knicks haven’t given the ball away easily this season, having averaged just 10.9 turnovers per game (they rank first in turnovers per game overall). It’s a different story for the Hornets, however, as they have averaged 15.4. Given the Knicks’ considerable advantage in that area, the Hornets will need to find a way to close that gap.
The Knicks took their victory against the Hornets in their previous meeting back in January by a resounding 113-92. Will the Knicks repeat their success or do the Hornets have a better game plan this time? We will know very soon.
