Harry Kane ‘guarantees goals’ for Bayern – Roman Weidenfeller

England captain Harry Kane “guarantees goals” for Bayern Munich, says Borussia Dortmund legend Roman Weidenfeller.

Bayern visits Dortmund in Der Klassiker on Saturday (17:30 GMT). Kane has already scored 14 goals in 11 appearances this season.

That has taken him to 64 goals in 63 goals since joining Bayern, including a hat-trick against Dortmund in November 2023.

Bayern head to the top of the Bundesliga at the Westfalenstadion, 10 points clear of their hosts.

When asked what the difference is between Bayern and Dortmund, Weidenfeller told BBC Sport: “One of the most important things about Bayern is Kane’s performances: 14 goals is just incredible.

“He is a great player and guarantees goals for Bayern.”

Despite all his goals, Kane, 31, is yet to win a trophy in his senior career.

In his first season with Bayern, they were defeated in the Bundesliga by Bayer Leverkusen, were eliminated from the German Cup by third-division side Saarbrucken, and lost to eventual winners Real Madrid in the semi-finals of the German League. Champions.

Kane then captained England to the final of the European Championship, where they were defeated by Spain.

“It’s crazy their lack of trophies,” said Weidenfeller, who spent 16 seasons in Dortmund and was part of the Germany team that won the World Cup in 2014.

“Maybe this season I will finally have the chance to win the Bundesliga for Harry Kane.”
