One of wwe‘s biggest annual events returns Saturday when Survivor Series: WarGames launches from Rogers Arena in Vancouver. The card includes a pair of WarGames matches and three title matches.
Much of the focus on Saturday will be on the men’s WarGames match, which will see the Bloodline team of Solo Sikoa featuring Bronson Reed take on the “Original Bloodline” of Roman Reigns, Jey Uso, Jimmy Uso and Sami Zayn, and the team recently added CM. Punk as its fifth member.
That match is just the latest step in the years-long saga of The Bloodline, which has dominated wwe programming since the empty-arena days of 2020’s Thunderdome.
The women will also participate in a WarGames match in which Rhea Ripley, Bianca Belair, Naomi, Iyo Sky and Bayley will face the team of Liv Morgan, Raquel Rodríguez, Nia Jax, Tiffany Stratton and Candice LeRae.
Add in a World Heavyweight Championship match between Gunther and Damian Priest, Bron Breakker defending his Intercontinental Championship against Ludwig Kaiser and Seamus, and a United States Championship match with champion LA Knight defending against Shinsuke Nakamura, and wwe has set the stage for a memorable evening. .
Let’s take a look at who the CBS Sports experts are picking to win in each match on Saturday’s card, which airs live on Peacock at 6 p.m. ET on Saturday.
wwe Survivor Series: WarGames 2024 Predictions
Men’s WarGames Match: Roman Reigns, Jey Uso, Jimmy Uso, Sami Zayn and CM Punk vs. Solo Sikoa, Jacob Fatu, Tama Tonga, Tonga Loa and Bronson Reed
I’m not sure how wwe will justify it, but I think Paul Heyman betrays Reigns. It wouldn’t be the first time he abandoned a client. I’m probably reading too much into things, but the nod he gave to Jimmy Uso and his Sikoa-inspired suit makes me think the solution is done. Bloodline isn’t going anywhere anytime soon, so it’s up to creativity to side with the new. Very united unit. Pick: Sikoa’s Bloodline wins. Shakiel Mahjouri
The correct story here is for the Sikoa team to win. Reigns’ side should be chasing and chasing until we finally hit Reigns in full underdog mode when he goes one-on-one with Sikoa. That said, a team with Reigns, the Usos, Zayn and Punk is pretty organized and set up in a way that feels more like a “send the fans home happy” situation than simply getting to the next right story point. Add in Team Sikoa already claiming victory in the six-man match at Crown Jewel and wwe‘s love of the 50/50 booking and we’ll continue with the “Original Bloodline” to emerge with the win. Pick: Reigns’ Bloodline wins. Brent Brookhouse
Women’s WarGames Match: Rhea Ripley, Bianca Belair, Naomi, Iyo Sky and Bayley vs. Liv Morgan, Raquel Rodriguez, Nia Jax, Tiffany Stratton and Candice LeRae
This WarGames women’s match exists for two reasons: to give women a marquee match and to give top players time at a major PPV. Morgan and Jax have been bringing out the best in their rivals lately, so this seems like a good, low-risk way to give the fan favorites a win. For that reason, I will be on the side of the heroes. Choose: Ripley, Belair, Naomi, Sky and Bayley — Mahjouri (also Brookhouse)
World Heavyweight Championship: Gunther (c) vs. Damian Priest
wwe has done a very good job of telling this story, and Priest really seemed to shake Gunther with his calm confidence. Gunther also seemed to be flirting with a turn towards the babyface side. As good as Priest’s promos have been, it’s almost unimaginable that wwe would give the title back to Gunther so soon. There has been a lot of drama in the lead up to this match, but there is no drama over who will walk away from Survivor Series with the title. Election: Gunther retains the title — Brookhouse (also Mahjouri)
Intercontinental Championship: Bron Breakker (c) vs. Sheamus vs. Ludwig Kaiser
Breakker should win. It is almost certain that willpower gain. But wwe has a chance to deliver on the idea of Sheamus winning the only belt that has eluded him his entire career without causing Breakker any harm. Personally, I like the idea of the Intercontinental Title moving around frequently for a while, especially after so many long reigns in recent wwe history. Sheamus could get the win by pinning Kaiser, leading to Breakker needing to chase the belt again and fueled by the fact that he wasn’t even the man who was pinned to lose it. For once, we’ll choose what we’d like to see instead of what we think we’ll see. Pick: Sheamus wins the title — Brookhouse (also Mahjouri)
United States Championship: LA Knight (c) vs. Shinsuke Nakamura
I’m not happy to say that Knight’s US title reign has been mostly filler. There is perhaps no better example than Nakamura returning from a seven-month absence and being immediately inserted into a title program with a week-long buildup. Knight has been underutilized as a champion, but that’s a problem management needs to solve. Knight should win this one. Election: LA Knight retains title — Mahjouri (also Brookhouse)
