Sir Alex Ferguson: BBC documentary on the former Manchester United boss


The life and career of former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson will be showcased in a new two-part BBC documentary.

Created by BBC Sport and BBC Scotland, ‘Sir Alex’ will launch on BBC iPlayer on December 26 and will feature first-hand accounts from the likes of Wayne Rooney, Rio Ferdinand, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Gordon Strachan and Sir Kenny Dalglish.

During his 27 years as Manchester United manager, the 82-year-old won 13 Premier League titles, two Champions Leagues, five FA Cups and four EFL Cups, before retiring in 2013.

He previously led Aberdeen to the European Cup Winners’ Cup and the European Super Cup, as well as winning three league titles, four Scottish Cups and one Scottish League Cup, making him the most decorated manager in British history.

A six-part podcast, Sporting Giants: Sir Alex Ferguson, will also be available on BBC Sounds from 26 December and on BBC Radio 5 Live throughout the festive period, with a bonus episode on 3 January.

BBC sports director Alex Kay-Jelski said: “There are few more important people in the history of British sport than Sir Alex Ferguson. So it is an honor for us to tell his story.”

In the podcast series, hosted by Kelly Cates and Jonathan Northcroft, listeners will delve even deeper into Sir Alex’s story, including a bonus episode with Celtic and Liverpool legend Sir Kenny speaking exclusively about their rivalry and friendship. all his life with his Glasgow partner.
