Man Utd: Ed Sheeran apologizes for interrupting Rubén Amorim’s interview

Ed Sheeran has apologized for interrupting Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim’s live television interview after Sunday’s 1-1 Premier League draw at Ipswich Town.

Amorim, who took charge of United for the first time, was interviewed by Sky Sports presenter Kelly Cates, former United captain Roy Keane, former Manchester City midfielder Izzy Christiansen and former Liverpool midfielder Jamie Redknapp at Portman Road .

Singer-songwriter Sheeran, a minority owner of Ipswich, interrupted the interview to greet Redknapp.

Referring to Amorim, Sheeran said: “I don’t think he wants to talk to me.” He added: “I love being back in the Premier League.”

Then he left and the interview resumed.

In a post on Instagram on Monday, Sheeran wrote: “Apologies if I offended Amorim yesterday. I actually didn’t realize he was being interviewed at the time. I was just popping in to say hello and say goodbye to Jamie. Great game, congratulations to everyone involved.”

Sheeran became Ipswich’s main shirt sponsor in 2021.

After Ipswich earned back-to-back promotions to secure their return to the Premier League this season, he bought a minority stake in the club this summer.

Marcus Rashford opened the scoring for United in the second minute, but Omari Hutchinson’s equalizer in the 43rd minute gave Ipswich a point.
