Hobart Hurricanes ended Perth Scorchers’ WBBL campaign as they all but secured a place in the finals after defeating the home team by three wickets.

The Hurricanes defeated Scorchers for 138 at the WACA Ground in Perth on Saturday night, after the home team lost their last seven wickets for 20 runs in 27 balls, amid a calamitous collapse of 8 for 33, before catch the target with 14 deliveries to spare. .

The chase was anything but easy for the Hurricanes, who fell from 51 unbeaten to 71 for 5, then 95 for 6, before lower-order pair Kathryn Bryce and Lauren Smith made an unbeaten 44 for the eighth wicket.

The pair helped the Hurricanes (10 points) leapfrog the Scorchers (nine) into fourth place in the standings and into the box seat for a place in the final.

The sixth-placed Sydney Sixers (eight points) still have a slim chance of overtaking the Hurricanes of the four.
