Microsoft has announced Edge game Assist, a way for gamers to get tips and guides while playing PC games.
Described as a “perfect, full-featured gaming browser,” game Assist allows players to open a customized version of the Edge browser as part of the game Bar overlay.
The browser is game-aware, which means that if the player has a supported game, the browser will automatically suggest tips and guides for that particular game.
However, it can also work with any game, and the player can manually search for help online.
The navigator can be pinned to the top of the screen if desired, meaning players can progress through a particular section with a guide always visible to them. Players can also open YouTube videos and play them in a tab alongside the actual game.
game Assist shares the same browser data and cookies with the full version of Edge, meaning players with saved login details don’t have to log in again mid-game.
Players can also use game Assist to open services like Discord, Spotify, and Twitch while playing.
“According to our research, 40% of PC gamers look for tips, guides, and other help while gaming,” Microsoft said in its announcement. game Assist makes this easier than ever by highlighting useful resources for your game every time you open a new tab.”
Although game Assist can be used to open an Edge browser while playing any game, at launch it has game support for nine titles: Baldur’s Gate 3, Diablo IV, Fortnite, Hellblade II: Senua’s Saga, League of Legends, Minecraft, Overwatch 2, Roblox and Valorant.
