Now we are in the final section of days in the 2025 period of the NFL free agency. A good free agency class is not necessarily considered, but the teams still have to be filled, so there will be a lot of guys who are paid a lot of money.
For the most part, we know who will reach the market and what teams will have money to spend, and which are not. Today we are here to talk about teams that do not have so much money in their pockets. Some of them are even on the salary limit at this time.
We want to identify a movement or two (or three) that they can do to help create a little more margin of financial maneuver and then identify the areas of the list that need help. We will take a look at the nine teams with the least amount of capitalization space (according to Over The Cap), and we will try to find the best way forward for them when you arrive next week.
The Saints are no longer on the list after reworking the Derek Carr agreement on Saturday. The team is expected to turn most of Carr’s money into a signature bonus for salary capital purposes, according to NFL Media. Carr should now obtain all the $ 40 million that are due this year.
Buffalo was only around $ 8 million above the limit, and will fall again after signing to Greg Rousseau to an extension On Saturday. Invoices can easily add even more space with a restructuring of Josh Allen. He is currently ready to count for $ 44.7 million in the Bills books, and that number would fall to around $ 33.6 million with a restructuring. If the Bills also want to reduce ties with von Miller, they could add another $ 8.4 million to $ 17.4 million, depending on whether they release it directly or designate it a launch after June.
Buffalo did it well enough last season with the wide receiver room that did not have a real type of type No. 1, but I could definitely use someone at the top of the depth table there. Bills will need to find replacements for Damar Hamlin and Rasul Douglas in high school. The security place was a problem last season compared to what it was while the Bills had Jordan Poyer and Micah Hyde, so it would be interesting to see if they try to make a significant movement there. Ah, and they could use a real manufacturer of difference along the defensive line, and especially they will need a help from pass-rush if they cut Miller.
Chris Lindstrom’s restructuring would save around $ 10 million and obtain the Falcons under the limit. The best thing they could do for their finances would be to find a way to exchange Kirk Cousins after June 1, so that they can absorb only a dead cover of $ 27.5 million instead of the success of $ 40 million they would receive when designating a launch after June.
Atlanta may need to replace Drew Dalman in the center, you probably need some depth in the open receiver, need to add corners in front of AJ Terrell, you will have to find security to combine with Jessie Bates III and, once again, need to desperately need someone who can hurry to the pin.
Sign Trey Smith for a long -term agreement instead of keeping it on the franchise label would leave its stop blow quite significantly. Patrick Mahomes has a lot of money that could be extended during the remaining years of his agreement in the form of his base salary and a list bonus, and the Chiefs could save up to $ 39 million doing that restructuring.
It would not be surprising to see them moving Kingsley Suamataia to protect themselves and try to find a new left Tackle in free agency. Especially if Deandre Hopkins and Hollywood Brown leave, they will need depth in the open receiver. (Rashee Rice returns from an important injury and could be suspended). They could also lose Tershawn Wharton, and have a lot of other defensive linens that are reaching free agency. It seems unlikely to keep Nick Bolton or Justin Reid, so the supporter and security are also needs.
Bucs have about $ 5 million in the capitalization room, so they do not need to do anything to meet the limit, but Tristan Wirfs restructuring would give them much more space to breathe. If they can reach a new agreement with Chris Godwin and avoid the charge of dead money of $ 18.8 million, that would also help.
Tampa Bay will need an interior offensive liner, and basically has its entire depth table of passing pass that hits free agency, except Yaya Diaby, so that will be a place to see in the free agents market.
Designate Shaq Mason A launch after June seems to be the most likely way for the margin of financial maneuver. Maybe there is something to do with Tytus Howard or (more likely) Denico Autry, but Howard played quite well last year and there is already a lot of work to do on the offensive line.
Texans also have a ton of deep players that hit free agency in high school, so they must add some depth there.
Lamar Jackson will count for $ 43.7 million against the limit, but the Ravens could save around $ 15.8 million with a restructuring. They do not necessarily need to do it, but I could use rest after blocking Ronnie Stanley to an extension. Ravens still need to add some depth in the receiver to help Zay Flowers, and they could also have a need in the guard if Patrick Mekari leaves.
There are also a lot of defensive backs that come to free agency, but Ravens tend to print DBS in an assembly line, so unless there are someone who can sign without affecting the compensatory selection formula, they could settle for developing their youngest men.
Pray.
But seriously, Cleveland can restructure Denzel Ward and/or extend Greg Newsome to release an additional capitalization room. A trade by Myles Garrett actually adds to the problems of the Browns lid unless it occurs after June 1, which could be at least part of the reason why they are positioning as if they will not. As for their needs, well, they are almost everywhere, including the offensive line, which for a long time has been a strength.
The Eagles have already appointed Darius killed a launch after June. That saves some money. Doing the same with Dallas Goedert also does it, but it is an important piece of the offensive, so it seems quite unlikely.
The Eagles do not have a lot of obvious needs, but they are likely to replace Milton Williams and potentially Josh Sweat, so the defensive line is, as usual, an area to see.
Extender Jaycee Horn would create a more top room, as well as launch Jadeveon Clowney. The first seems more likely than the second. Clowney played quite well and Panthers have enough need to worry in defense without creating another. Panthers could probably use a center, and may need to replace their wings closed since Tommy trembles and Ian Thomas are reaching free agency.
The supporter is a necessity, and both security and corner are too. Secondary, in particular, seems like an area to focus.
