The NFL has recently avoided awarding this award to chief coaches who exceeded expectations in their first seasons with their new clubs, with Kevin Stefanski (Browns) and Kevin O’Connell (Vikings) winning the last two years. Before that, however, four of the six winners claimed the prize after the year 1 in their new situation. We could see a return to that standard in 2025 with four of the five coaches with the highest probabilities that were hired this low season.
Of that group, Vrabel is the most fascinating candidate and our election here. He is not a rookie coach as the favorite of Ben Johnson bets in Chicago, and was widely seen as one of the best coaches in the League game during his mandate in Tennessee. Vratabel also won this award in 2021, but voters have not shown that it is a great increase in speed in their attempts to win again, since Stefanski won for the second time in his career only two years ago.

The long shot choice: Demeco Ryans (+2500)
